CTC Activities and Lessons Learned in Recovery and Reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima Daiichi Accident

CTC was severely damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami, which caused equipment damage, power outages, and disruption of logistics. This poster introduces our subsequent responses including supply of dosimeters, monitoring equipment and protective materials urgently needed at Fukushima Daiichi, individual dose measurement in Fukushima at first by passive dosimeter and later joined by active one “D-shuttle”, etc., and our lessons learned.


The lessons are:

1) Essence of Nuclear/Radiation Disasters

- Radiation is only an additional factor but needs bottom-hearted sincere communication.

- Prior to thinking about low-dose radiation effects comes maintaining physical and mental health.

- It is reassuring to understand the individual dose.


2) Preparation for Disaster

- Maintenance, storage and provision of nuclear disaster prevention materials and equipment in a container is essential.

- Passive (no power supply required) dosimeter is the last resort and indispensable.

- Multi-spectrometer for identifying released nuclides is effective.

 

東日本大震災と福島第一事故からの復旧・復興におけるCTCの活動と得られた教訓

株式会社千代田テクノルは、設備の損傷、停電、物流の混乱を引き起こした東日本大震災と津波により甚大な被害を受けた。このポスターでは、福島第一で緊急に必要とされた線量計、監視装置、保護材の供給、最初はパッシブ線量計、その後はアクティブ線量計「Dシャトル」も加わった個別線量測定などをはじめその後の対応と、得られた教訓を紹介する。


教訓は次のとおり:

1)原子力/放射線災害の本質

-放射線は単なる追加要素だが、心のこもった誠実なコミュニケーションが必要。

-低線量の放射線の影響について考える前に、心身の健康を維持する必要がある。

-個人線量を理解することは安心。


2)災害への備え

-原子力防災資機材のコンテナによる維持・保管と提供は基本。

-パッシブ(電源不要)線量計は、最後の手段で不可欠。

-核種を同定するマルチ・スペクトロメーターは有効。
